Herbal Medicine for Cold and Flu Season (with Ember & Oren)

  • Chester Basin, Nova Scotia, B0J 1K0 Canada (map)

Do you or your loved ones experience recurrent colds & flus or slow recovery times that leave you feeling under the weather for a long time? When the kids go back to school and the cold weather returns, respiratory infections rise dramatically. While we can’t always avoid exposure to infections, with a few basic principles of herbal medicine we can learn how to build resilience through cold & flu season. The results with herbs are often profound: fewer colds and the ones we do get are shorter and less awful.

But here’s the important thing: if you wait until “sickness” season is in full swing, you’ve missed a crucial opportunity to get prepared. Better to start preparing in late summer, when the plants are still growing, and so you can allow enough time to strengthen your immune system and stock your home apothecary.

Join registered clinical herbalists Oren Hercz and Ember Peters as we share how herbalists approach staying well during cold & flu season, and teach you how to make indispensable herbal remedies with abundant local plants.

In this workshop you will:

  • Learn herbal strategies & herbs for strengthening immune function, so you are more resilient overall in the face of infections.

  • Understand how to choose appropriate herbs for specific symptoms of colds and flus (understanding these nuances makes a big difference in whether herbs actually help or not).

  • Get hands-on experience making herbal extracts that you can make at home, so you can stock your home apothecary with remedies that prepare you for whatever comes your way

  • Learn how to make a lung honey, sore throat spray, and elderberry syrup, and take some home for yourself and your family

  • Leave feeling prepared and empowered to take care of your immune and respiratory health this fall and winter

Note: this workshop will be hosted outdoors with shade and shelter provided

Grow your herbal confidence & your home apothecary! No previous experience necessary, all are welcome. All materials provided. Limited spots available.
